Mission:
We,
the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, are an international congregation in a
multicultural world. Impelled by the love of Christ, in the tradition of St.
Vincent de Paul and the pioneer spirit of Mother Catherine Spalding, our
foundress, we and our associates are committed to work for justice in solidarity
with oppressed peoples, especially the economically poor and women, and to care
for the earth. We risk our lives and resources, both personally and corporately,
as we engage in diverse ministries in carrying out this mission.
Foundress: Mother

Ministries: Advocacy efforts on
behalf of the poor and victimized people and the environment; housing, health
care and services for the elderly; parish ministry, including youth ministry,
social services, staff for shelters that welcome runaway teens and the homeless,
low-income housing ministry; adult literacy programs, hospital outreach
programs; retreat facilities and programs; arts education and cultural programs;
education and health care.
Location: Sisters in Belize,
Botswana, India, Nepal and the United States. The motherhouse is located in
Nazareth, Ky.
Local Ties: The Vincentian Sisters of
Charity of Pittsburgh merged into the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in 2008.
